Contact with potential millions of strangers.
Exchange of ideas and insults ...without once having any physical contact.
No eye contact ...no comebacks and no comittments.
Bringing people together in a new and experimental way.
If this doesn't die out but actually continues to march on ...what will the world be like for our kids?
Less and less human contact ...less emotional bonding.
It can't be good can it?

When it comes to our kids, there are positives to this new age digital world! I mean, when my eldest was a young boy he 'played out' and I had many worrying times! he'd come home beaten black and blue after fighting in the park! or on the odd occasion wouldn't come home! Shocked

My youngest is a total IT wizard! he has remarkable IT skills! As he's partially sighted he spends a lot more time at home than his brother ever did, but he has the world at his fingertips! He plays x-box live and is having tons of fun with thousands of other kids worldwide, without even leaving his room! Shocked Very Happy which is good for me..far less worry! Very Happy

But, we all know the dangers of the net! Shocked I'm fortunate that my Son is very mature, understands all about the dangers and doesn't put himself at risk (he's neither timid nor naive)

I do wonder though, as you say, if it continues to get bigger, what problems it may cause in the future? Shocked Neutral

Another thing with forums ...people seem to imagine that before we had them ...everyone was down the pub ...every night.
I've never lived like that.
Most people had their tea and plonked down in front of the telly.
This is much more demanding in every sense than the telly.

Theres a conversation going on everywhere about forums at the mo.
Quiet forms ...quiet posters ...fed up posters ...whats the point posters ...gone and got a life posters ...probably watching the telly.
Forums are going through a quiet time I reckon.
But ...the majority of modern people have a very short attention span.
These modern minds are already craving the next thing already but ...this might be it ...there might not be a next thing.
